Dave Lyons

Entrepreneur-in-Residence

Dave Lyons is an entrepreneur-in-residence who will focus initially on the firm’s investments in clean technology management and other projects leveraging his history of leading engineering/design efforts on breakthrough products.

Dave is a former vice president of engineering at Glacier Bay, a power management technology firm, and former director of engineering at Tesla Motors, where as Employee No. 12 he led and expanded the development team for each of the company’s core technologies through their formative stages.

Previously, Dave spent 11 years at design and innovation consulting firm IDEO in various roles in Palo Alto and London, including studio head for the Prototyping Group, senior program manager and lead engineer. Immediately prior to joining Claremont Creek, Dave was an EIR at Accel Partners, specializing in new energy technology development.

Dave holds an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
